We recently ran our first ever Matching Gift direct mail campaign. We had received a $10,000 donation and we were hoping to bring in another $10,000 in response to this matched gift.

In the end, we received an additional $26,205 ($10,000 from one donor plus another $16,205 from many donors).

The most gratifying thing is that we have engaged a whole group of new donors who we can start a wonderful relationship with, as well as bringing back some lapsed donors.

The first Supporter Connection Survey we mailed was incredibly successful in the two areas that mattered most to us: bequests and mid-value donors. It was our most successful bequest mailing ever, generating a bequest pipeline worth an estimated $9.1 million.

But more unexpected was the success we had with mid-value donors. 360 people said they would consider a gift of $1,000 or more. We created a successful matched giving appeal off the back of that and from those 360 people we generated a pool of matching funds worth over $69,000.
